Four months from now, the general election will be over and organizers will be applying for their next opportunity. So how do you make sure that after the dust settles, you stand out as a candidate that folks will want to hire?

Pro tip: start updating your resume now.

Why? Well, four months from now, you're going to be exhausted after a long campaign cycle, and the last thing you'll want to do is go back and take a mental inventory of every single project you've worked.

If you take the time now, while you still have the energy, you'll be ahead of the curve.

Updating your resume now gives you a framework for identifying what your goals are for the next four months. It also helps you figure out what you need to get done to get to the next step, and discern if there are any changes you need to make to your current role. Maybe you want to ask for more responsibility or different projects.

Take a moment to assess where you stand and what you're going to accomplish over the next four months. And when the holidays roll around, you'll be in good shape to start job-hunting again.

How do you keep your resume up-to-date? Let us know in the comments on the blog.
