These days, Facebook memes are all the rage. There's everything from the photos of animals with cute puns, to images of public figures with a little quote nicely displayed, to "Caption this!" images. Recent changes to Facebook make sharing images easier than ever, and it's a great opportunity to cultivate your brand and message. Here are some quick tips for making sure your graphic looks great on Facebook:
- Make your graphic a square. You may have noticed that a lot of images appear partially chopped when shown in your timeline. That's because Facebook makes the preview of images a square, regardless of their actual shape. You want people to be able to see the full graphic (especially if you've got text), so make your images square.
- Maximize the size. Facebook recently increased the size of images you can share. This improves your ability to share high quality images. The longest side can now be 2048 pixels, so a 2048x2048 square gives you the best quality image (that also will appear in full in newfeeds and timelines).
- Keep the text to a minimum. The point of a quick and easy meme is to give people something to remember, so you don't want to clutter the graphic with a ton of text.
