Get the Tip of the Day via email

When I get sent away on work trips, I get pretty excited. I look at these opportunities to check out what these locations have to offer and figure out fun things to do while I'm there. Here are some tips for making the most out of your trips:

Figure out how much time you have. Work always comes first in these cases, but hopefully, you won't be working until midnight every night. So you have 3 hours free? That's enough time for dinner and a show.

Pick things you like to do. I'm a vegetarian, so I enjoy looking up the restaurants in the area that serve veggie-friendly cuisine. I'm a huge fan of live shows, so I'll check YouTube and MySpace pages for local acts to see if there's a show I can catch.

Do research to find out what your options are. Check out all the local papers, event websites, historical locations, and websites of popular venues in the area. Ten minutes of searching online to plan out your free time will pay off once you are there.

Document your fun! Instagram everything and take photos so you can show everyone how much fun you had!

Make the most out of your time there and have some fun while you're at it.
